There's a few factors to keep in mind when choosing a SUP Board. Let's go through them!

Weight

Let’s get this one out of the way first! It’s a little awkward for us to ask you what weight you are, but when it comes to things that float, it’s important. No one likes that sinking feeling! Your weight should be the first thing to consider when choosing a SUP board. We have boards suitable for all riders ranging from 50kg to 125kg. Just be careful - SUP boards are often measured by maximum payload which is the figure at which it will sink! Be sure to look at the ideal rider weight figure.

Board Style

Once the question of weight is out of the way, you might have narrowed down the choice of boards that are suitable. The next thing to look for is what style the SUP board is and where you'd be using it. We have different styles for different water types and maneuvrability. Shorter boards tend to be more maneuvrable. Wider ones are known for their stiffness and stability, and the narrower ones for speed and endurance paddling. If you are new to SUPing, we’d recommend a board from the All Round or All Round Advanced range. For those that are comfortable on the water and would like a little more adventure, stealth and speed have a look at the racing boards such as the Hyper.

We don’t expect you to be an expert on this though, that’s where we come in! So feel free to give us a call and we’ll guide on what board is right for you.

Other questions often asked:

Is there a manual? - Yes! Each board comes with a manual for guidance on how to set it up and maintain it.

Do I need to wear a buoyancy aid? - Yes! We always recommend being safe on the water. While wearing a buoyancy aid might be a little uncomfortable, it may save your life in the rare cases where you could get in trouble. Better to be safe.

Do I need to do anything to maintain the SUP Board? - Yes! There are some dos and don’ts when it comes to maintaining your paddle board. Here’s a few tips to get you started.

What you can do 👍

  • Keep the SUP board out of direct sunlight while storing.

  • Give it a rinse after paddling in saltwater.

  • Just like when you get out of the shower, give it a quick dry after washing.

  • Remove the fins and keep them safe.

  • Make sure there's no dirt or sand on the board when you roll it up.

What you shouldn't do 👎

  • Don’t pump the board up too much, each SUP has a recommended psi in the manual.

  • Don’t transport a SUP board while fully inflated

  • Don't forget sharp objects can be harmful to your SUP. Be careful where you store it.
